    Heat mat controller stopped working
Hi! I have a Zilla controller for my under tank heat mat. At 2am it stopped working and dropped to 79F before I caught it. I unplugged everything and unplugged it back in but nothing worked. I had to plug only my heat mat on and watch it. The controller is insanely inaccurate all of a sudden? I turned it all the way up to 100 on the controller but using another thermostat it read 87F. Does anyone know of a better one? I was thinking of the Jump Start MTPRTC Digital controller thermostat. I usually keep my girl at 88F on her hot side because she doesn't like anything lower or higher. She was okay for the night but she spent the night out of her hide unlike usual

So, you're looking at cheaper setups, and with those you end up sacrificing the quality of decent thermostats. I'd get another cheap one for the moment, but then also invest in a good thermostat like a herpstat

Cheap zilla thermostat are known to fail, you need a reliable thermostat that will last you for years to come, herpstat is one of them.

In the mean time if the ambient is above 75 you are fine just do not feed, if you need to provide heat get a dimmer switch until you receive your t-stat.

Is there a more expensive one you'd suggest? I rather pay more for a good one than having to keep buying bad ones. I don't want anything happening to her if I happen to be asleep or away when it decides to stop working

    Herpstat intro + or Herpstat 1 http://www.spyderrobotics.com/index....=index&cPath=1

Been running a herpstat since 2010, the same one has never failed me. Consider the following, however: if you decide to expand your collection and move to a rack, or more over multiple racks, you may want to invest in one that can control more than one source. A herpstat is great for one enclosure, or one rack, however, if you add more to your collection and are controlling say a sweaterbox rack and a cb70 (or whatever we move to) rack, having a herpstat 2 will help a lot more. If you get into breeding and want to control an incubator, hatchling rack, juvenile/adult rack, and a big adult rack, a herpstat 4 would be of use.

It depends on you, but for one snake and one heat device with no desire to expand, the suggested into+ or 1 are perfect
