Re: Pain in my behind: MITES
Check out http://www.mgreptiles.com/MITEMAIN.html for mite treating stuff. I would suggest Provent-a-mite. You must keep treating them til' they are gone. Mites have an incubation time of a couple of weeks, so you may think you have killed them but you have not killed the eggs. If you did not quarantine your bp from you boa....most likely the boa has mites too...you just have not seen them yet.
Re: Pain in my behind: MITES
buddha....about 2 weeks ago i noticed a couple mites on my BP. i took everything out of the cage and replaced the substrate with a white towel. the white towel makes it easier to see the mites when u inspect the cage. i through out the old substrate. then i took all of my hides, mater bowl, fake plants and soaked them twice for 15 minutes in a 10% bleach solution with hot water. i also washed the cage with the bleach and water. i then decided to take my BP to the vet because i wanted her checked over not only for mites, but she had never been to the vet so it was a good idea. not saying u need to visit the vet. the vet told me she had no signs of mites and gave me a prescription of Ivermectin and that was 2 weeks ago. sense then i still have the white towel for a substate, and the only things i have replaced in the cage are 2 hides and a water bowl. i have yet to find anymore mites but i am waitting at least a month before i replace everything in her cage. i hear great things about that prevent a mite stuff. i would give it a try. good luck.
