    Temporary Cheez-It Hide box
Hey guys! I ran out of hides recently and I'm going to go to the store soon to buy more! But in the meantime my boyfriend and I finished a box of Cheeze-It's and decided to use it as a temporary hide rather than be wasteful! There was a ziplock bag full of pineapple in there since he was about to throw the box away but I threw out the pineapple bag and gave it to my cinnamon ball Jigsaw! The box smells of pineapple though... Do you think the pineapple smell will bother her? She seems to love it but I don't want to risk her health if there's any pineapple juice in it! It seemed dry! Anyways I wanted to get your quick advice! I don't think pineapples are toxic to balls in any way and couldn't find anything when I googled it so I think she'll be ok! Just making sure!

Go for it! I have an ingrate who actually prefers cardboard to the nice plastic ones! I keep a shelf full of cereal boxes for him and just switch them out every few days. I have no clue why. I've tried different hides/sizes in case there was something bothering him but he just likes the boxes, in any size, as long as I leave the opened flaps attached. He pushes them around, lays on top of them and squishes them, then goes back inside...it's like he's all tucked in... and I only have to give him one at a time because he moves it from one end to the other. When I had two in there, he picked one and just shoved the other out of his way. His name is Fred. It suits him.
I don't get people who say snakes don't have personalities. They sure do, and they like "enrichment" if you give it to them.

I'd guess if the smell was strong enough to bother him he'd stay away from the box. I've used boxes as temporary homes in the past with no issues.

wont last too long but a good short term solution. Might last a little longer if you cut off the bottom so he cant have a bowl movement inside it.

I'm sitting here wondering why in the world anyone would put pineapples in a Cheez-It box.

But yeah, the box itself should be fine. I've used empty tissue boxes for my ball pythons before and I use Pringles cans all the time, though I make sure to wipe out all the crumbs and salt first. I also have plastic hides, which most of my snakes prefer, but some of them really love their Pringles cans.

I use paper towel rolls for my juvenile corns and they love them. Just gotta keep an eye on them as they soak up moisture, urates, etc... I toss them every week or so and swap them out for new ones.

Just build up a little reserve, check with your neighbors for empty cereal/cracker/oatmeal boxes so you can switch them as soon as they get damp or dirty. Sometimes I have to change it out 2 days later. No big deal...they're free.
