Moldy Eggs! Won't Candle!
Hi everyone. I'm a little upset right now. our eggs are on about day 30. When they first were laid, they candled fine. Strong veins. Now, many of them in the tub are moldy, and we can't get them to candle properly. It's almost as if the skin of the egg is too thick for the light to penetrate. I'm so worried. Has anyone dealt with this, and what can we do to save them? Thanks!!!

Re: Moldy Eggs! Won't Candle!
Substrate could be too wet perhaps? You could try some athletes foot powder to deal with the mould and get the eggsnonto some light diffuser or egg crate to stop them getting too wet? Xx

Re: Moldy Eggs! Won't Candle!
Hi everyone. Thanks for the help!
To answer a couple questions - the probe of the thermostat is in the incubator, not the tub. And Pit, the eggs are not quite candling solid yellow. They are actually candling a little better now that I am using a stronger torch. It's weird though, I think the mold made the membrane harder to see the veins through. One is not candling too great, might be a loss.
We wiped the mold off of them with paper towels and put anti-fungal athlete's foot powder on them. We even put them in a new tub with new substrate, so we'll wait for now. Thanks for the advice everyone. I will check out the substrate free incubation techs too.
If anyone else has pointers, let me know!
