Well 1st let me chime in on you getting a 15 or a 20 Gal Soon, Save your self a whole lot of cash and get a clear rubbermaid tub, they are much easier to clean and keep the right environment levals. A 15 or a 20 Gal wil not do for a balls entire life and you'll either have to drop some more bills on a bigger cage later on down the road or you'll end up keeping him in it and that would suck for the snake. Rubbermaids are cheap and look pretty good if you want them to.

As far as your current temp problem, are you talking about the hot side ambient or cool side? We need to know alittle more about your setup like where the hide boxes are and how your keeping an eye on the temp levals(digital thermometer, analog).

I totally agree with you on that. Our Sterlite tubs are the clear type so we can easily see the snakes and so easy to keep clean and regulate heat and humidity. You just can't beat the cost.

I figure these are snakes that are rarely out roaming so why spend a ton on a display tank that will drive me nuts trying to stablize. If we do want a display set-up we are going to wait till they hit adult size and then set up something that would do them for the rest of their lives. Our Sterlite's look nice though with some natural rock and branches for them to check out and rub against during shed. We are looking into some sort of reptile carpet to make them look even nicer.
