Overnight rodents

Does anyone leave f/t feeders in a snake's enclosure overnight? I've had two in my boy's tub for two hours now and I'm not sure if I should risk spoilage from an overnight stay or chuck them now and let him wait a week for his next meal. Advice?

I have before but I don't anymore. If mine doesnt eat when I offer they aren't going to eat that night. I just thaw one and if my problem eater doesn't eat, I give it to the one I know will eat so I don't waste.

Personal preference. One of my girls will always eat but from time to time she doesn't want to eat right away so I leave it overnight and it's gone in the morning. Same for my hognoses. They are also on smaller prey though so it's not as much of a waste if they don't eat.

I have a few snakes that never strike when first offered that I consider "shy eaters" so if I didn't leave it in over night they'd never eat but it's always gone by morning. Just pitch in the morning. They don't get funky smelling over night.

Yes sometimes with shy eaters who will not take it of the tongs and in that case the prey is left overnight and disposed of in the morning if uneaten.

Thanks for the replies guys! I chucked them before I went to bed last night to be on the safe side, but it's good to know they won't go completely sour overnight for the future.

Leaving overnight has never worked for me personally, if they wont take the rodent when im moving it around they aren't going to. just make sure it didn't get pulled into a hide if you leave it overnight, that will be a nasty surprise later.

Yes, like others we have some shy eaters.

That what iam doing for my spider Mojave female.. she has issues taking from tongs but if she doesn't take it when I leave it on her after 20 minutes then I bust out hair dryer heat up head and my other two are sure to get it....

I left one over night oh hell the smell took hours to go away......[emoji16] [emoji16]
