    Best feeding service ever!!!
Since I got Kira I bought her food at Petco, semi-adult mice. And last week I asked if they sell rats, because one day she will outgrow mice. They said no, and they didn't know where I could get them either. So I posted on facebook if someone knew where I could get rats for my BP in my city.

A guy responded and we set up a meeting today. He showed up at my place, right on time to the second with a bascule and 6 different live rats. He weighted Kira (0.195 Kg) and weight two of the rats and explained that the 0.030 kg was the perfect feeder for her at the moment. He killed it right there and gave it to me to see how I fed Kira. She ate immediately.

Charged me $1.00 USD and told me if I wanted he could go again next week.

Now this is what I call a pro service!!! Such a pleasant experience. I am so glad I called him.

I'm sorry, he drove to your house, spent time with you, and sold you a rat all for a buck? That's a terrible business model. Is the dollar just a first time charge and he's going to charge you what his time and rat are worth next time?

No that's it, just the price of the rat. 1 buck each.

Ever heard the proverb: "Give and man a fish and he'll eat for a day... teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime." ??

I might just be me but I'd would be suspicious of someone wiling to drive out to my house and sell me something for less than it's worth. It has to cost more in gas and rat food than a 1$.

I've heard the proverb, but I don't understand it in this context. He's not teaching them anything to be sufficient. Maybe he's just being a nice guy, but if this is a service I don't see how he affords to do it.

Probably because it's a small city, I don't even think he grabs the car to come over. Any way he sure is a nice guy.
And it's not a regular service, it's because he noticed I was worried and having trouble with my girls' food, he knows I'm new to reptiles so he offered help/support.
When we first got in touch he asked me the weight and length and I didn't knew it. That's why he offered to come over and help me figure out the best feeder for her. He is more of a breeder helping a newbie keeper. [emoji16]

I'm just glad I found someone with his experience willing to give me so much help. And now he's got a long time buyer on his side business.

It's called a loss leader. He's grooming a new customer with the expectation of future repeat business.

I know of a few folks who deliver live feeders, they have a route that they travel on a particular day each week. Making just one delivery per day is cost/time/gas prohibitive but if you're delivering several hundred feeders a day to 15-20 customers it makes more sense.
