    The road to eggs
So wanted to share my recent observations and get the opinion of people with more experience. My breeding female for the last few days has been staying on the cool side of her enclosure and soaking daily in her water bowl. Which side note i have never seen her do before. And when i lifted her hide she is now curled up on her side as opposed to flat. So her belly is visible. Which again ive never seen. So these are all positive signs right? Should i be trying to look out for an ovulation or have i possibly already missed it? Planning on pairing her again in a week or two to be safe. Thoughts and opinions welcome. This will be my first clutch if im successful.

Definitely signs of building! I'd keep an eye on her, and keep pairing until either she doesn't seem interested or you catch a definite ovi.

She is building, once she ovulates she will move back to the warm side.

Depending on the size of the follicles she may or may not need to be paired a few more times, usually for people who are breeding for the first time I recommend to stop only when they witness an ovulation. (granted the animal has shown positive signs before that)

I palpated her last week and def felt follicles. Maybe a little smaller than a golf ball or there abouts,,,, well as long as its signs pointing in the right direction im happy. Ill keep pairing for now and start keeping track of her more frequently

To give you an idea once the follicles reach the size of a quarter the females no longer need breeding (won't hurt if you do and are unsure)

Once they are the size of a gold ball, ovulation is imminent.

As others have said these are good signs of building. If she is soaking she may also shed soon which should be a pre ovulation shed. It isn't a good timing benchmark but at does at least let you know to be watching for an ovulation. Best of luck.

Nice! Look forward to seeing the babies. She produced a 7 egg clutch for me in 2015 before you bought her, so hopefully she'll lay a big clutch for you.

Wanted to ask a quick question, so i took a top down pic the same day the last pic on this post was taken and thought I clearly saw a Lower body swell, she then when into shed on the 16th of this month and obviously has since shed. She is still hanging on the cool side of her enclosure and coiled belly up (including a pic below) should I continue to pair? Or is the swell followed closely by a shed sign she ovulated and is gravid? First time so just really not sure the second pic is the top down one i took on or around may 1st https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0534b0aedf.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...80d686248f.jpg
