How can i switch my Dumerils Boa from mice to rats?

My male Dumerils Boa is 7 months old. I got him when he was one month old. I fed him from the beginning small live mice. He eats only live and i won,t feed him frozen anyway. Now he is eating adult mice. If he is not hungry he will reject the mice. But i noticed that he smells the air carefully to make sure it,s a mice before he strikes it. I tried once to feed him a rat but he didn,t even recognize it as food. How can i switch him to rats? I never had this problem with my male Red tailed Boa (BCI), I got him also as he was a month old and fed him at first live mice and switched him to live rats when he was 3 months old and he didn,t even make a differance between mice and rats.

Put your feeder rat on some dirty mouse bedding before offering, or use a mouse to get him interested but drop in a rat and see if he'll go for it. I've got a picky live mouse eater myself and have gotten him to take ft rats a couple days only by offering a mouse first and following it with a rat. Although last week he killed the mouse, ignored it then ate the rat I'd put in.
