Misting systems - Yes/No ?

Hi Everyone,

Do any of you guys using any kind of misting system?

I have to ball pythons, each in a separate cage and the the humidity level of each cage is around the 40.

I misting the cages about 3-4 times a day and lifting the humidity to about 70 before it drop down to 40 after about hour and a half.

I was thinking to buy this solo misting system by exo terra. Put a hose in each of the cages.

What do you guys think? do you have any experience with them?

I am interested in this as well. I have my banana pastave in a terrarium and the humidity dips to about 40 when I get home from work, and spikes to around 70 when I mist the tank. I mist the tank about 3 times a day. I was thinking a misting system(once dialed in) would be able to keep things a little more consistent. Maybe with a herpstat with a humidity sensor, it would work well?

I use a tear drop shape cool mist humidifier..have it on a time.. add hose from hardware tht can be squeezed into top cap.. u may have to shave it down a little at a time to get hose to fit snug.. cld ass t connector for a cpl cages

Avoid solving humidity issues this way.

Find out how the humidity is getting out, and reduce it.

If you have a screen lid, aluminum foil it to keep the humidity in.

If your substrate is less absorbent, get something that can hold more humidity.

If you're using overhead lamps for heat, swap to heat tape and a thermostat.

There are better ways to handle it than using misters or foggers, at least for BPs. Heck instead of using foggers for my lizards, I just keep a nice water line for the soil by dumping the dish on it (they're on dirt) for one, the other has a fish tank in its enclosure.

Yeah if it's dropping down to 40% during the day with multiple mistings, you need to do something other than misting. Ox has good suggestions. You may also want to try keeping either a sponge or sphagnum moss in a shallow bowl of water.

What reduce the humidity is the CHE bulb that I have.

The problem is that if I don't use the CHE, the cool side temps don't go over 73.

The UTH is great for the hot side but my cool side it too cold...

Any suggestions?

Those little chinese food soup tubs are perfect for that^

Pop a few holes in the lid, keep the moss/sponge most/damp and it will slightly increase the humidity at all times. You just need to clean it/replace it semi-regularly (when you see the mold growing, you've gone too far). A humid hide can work too, something with moist moss and a nice place to hide works well with many BPs.

Um... so yeah, a second uth would be awesome. Get on it. You'll have the problems solved all around.

With reptiles my motto is: The less I have to do to keep their enclosure where it needs to be, the better. If I have to do nothing but add food every now and then and clean the water dish, the setup is perfect. For my Savannah, that's exactly where it is. For my BPs I need to swap their bedding and clean their tubs every now and then in the addition to the above, which is about the best I can hope for.
