Question about possible new blue eyed lucy

Hello, I'm going to be buying my first ball python in a couple days. It is between a female bumblebee and a male blue eyed lucy. As much as I like the bumblebee I'm afraid of "the wobble", even though I know it's not life threatening.

A couple of questions to do with the BEL, is the greyish coloring of the head normal in leucistics? Will it become less white as time goes on? I was hoping for more of a pure white. Also, the BEL is said to be a male, at only 2 years old it seems to be quite big (especially girthy) is it possible that it is a female and not a male?

There are a few different genes that can combine to produce a Blue Eyed Leucistic. Lesser/Lesser (Super Lesser), Lesser/Mojave, Mojave/Mojave (Super Mojave), and a couple others I can't recall. The super lessers can have some slight deformities like bug-eyes from what I understand. The Lesser/Mojave is generally a pure white snake without the bug-eyed problems (I own one of these myself). The Super Mojave tends to have the graying on top of the head like the one you are looking at. If I had to bet with my somewhat limited knowledge, I would guess the BEL you posted is a super mojave, but if I'm wrong someone will come along and point that out. From what I understand, that graying does not go away as they age. Personally, I find the graying looks nice as a contrast on an otherwise patternless animal, but if you like the pure-white look, I'd say try and find a Lesser/Mojave blue-eyed.

Also, as to your second question, at two years (and any age for that matter) you can't necessarily tell the sex of the snake by the appearance of their bodies or size. Generally females will be larger than males, but I have seen very large male animals. It may just be that the snake was fed very well and accepts food readily. The only sure-fire way to tell is to have the snake sexed by someone who knows what to look for. Are you buying the snake online or from someone local? Are they a breeder? If you are buying it local (and from someone who knows how to do it!) you could have them sex it in person for you and explain what they are doing so you can verify.

Yes, that's a super mojave. The grey is normal for those and will stay that way it's entire life. A super mojave isn't a pure white snake - if you're wanting that, go with a lesser mojave.

The pictures you posted are hard to judge size from. How much does it weigh? Males can still be pretty girthy if they're fed a lot. It's not uncommon for a 2 year old male to be 1200 grams.

You won't know if it's male or female until you have somebody with experience sex it for you.

I have a few "white" snakes. The whitest is going to be a lesser/mojave or a super lesser. The grey head on the super mojave actually grows on you after awhile. The snake does look like a female, however as others have said there is no way to be positive without the snake either being probed or popped.

Those with grayish head are Super Mojave, if you want a clean white snake a mojave x Lesser, or mojave x Butter will be your best bet, I would stay away from Super Lesser or Super Butter.

As for size and sex well I won't comment on that based on the picture there is no real size reference and some male are larger than others, also depend on the feeding, plus size is not how you sex a BP.
