health issues

Our 2 ball python have the popping when breathing sometimes but not all the time but it's been like that since we got them over 6 months ago... could it be something else?

also we're feeding them twice a week how often should they poop? I'm worried they are backed up.

You should maybe bring them to an exotic vet. But we will need more info to help you out...

Is there any excess mucous around their mouths? Any white streaks on the glass?

What is your husbandry like?

Why are you feeding twice a week? Feeding appropriate sized prey once a week is preferred

I have taken them to the breeder we got them from. About a month after having them b cause I was worried they had a respiratory infection. They said they were fine and that our set ups for them were some of the best they had seen.

There re are no other signs. Nothing wrong with mouth, tongue, or nose besides the occasional popping noise but no mucus.

Because of their age age we are feeding them twice a week. They are not even sub adults yet.

How reputable is this breeder?
Even young BPs only need to eat once a week. Every five days at most

For babies, every five days is fine. Once a week is fine. My holdbacks are fed twice a week if they will take it and appear healthy until they are on something bigger than a rat pup, then they are backed off to once a week.

Yes however not knowing or having observed the animal in person it's hard for anyone to say if this is a normal sound or something is going on, when in doubt the best is to consult a vet and have a culture done if the culture is negative than what you hear is not abnormal.

There is no schedule, it can be a week a month or more, unless there is a PERSISTENT bulge near the cloaca the animal is fine.

As for are you feeding enough not enough hard to tell since they are no info such as weight of the animal and prey size some people think they feed enough and worry about bowel movement when in fact they do not feed enough and the animal utilize most of the prey for growth, again it's about details.

yes they are a reputable breeder and do rather well for them selves.

They were on hoppers a little longer then we wanted them adults and 2 weeks ago they graduated to rats. They both have a good appetite and only when we first got them did Kleo not eat for 2 weeks. Since then they eat like clock work. Every Monday and Thursday morning.

They seem fine besides the popping now and then. It's not all the time. I mean they are weird especially Medusa she loves being held and always wants attention including her head being rubbed.

I dont even even know where I could take them around here and if I can't trust what my breeder told me well I'm concerned...

Don't take them anywhere !!

They sound perfectly healthy. They certainly grew well and on schedule, they changed from mice to rats, sounds like well adjusted and lovely snakes to me.

I would go to feeding one approp. sized meal once every 5 days and once they hit 450 or 500 gr. once the week.

Could the popping come from their body? With the almost non-stop digestion they have going on you will sometimes hear strange noises from their body, esp. when you handle them. If you feed twice the week you shouldn't actually be handling them very much. You shouldn't handle them on the day of feeding and the day after. But yes, if you pick them up while they are full of rodent parts, stuff inside re-arranges and sometimes "pops".

If the pop is coming from the head area, make sure nothing is in their nostrils, no small pieces of substrate, etc.

I feed them Monday and Thursday mornings and we don't hold them until the following evening so Tuesday or Friday late evening. We also always check that no large visible lump is in their gut.

i was trying to watch Kleo tonight and it seems sometimes when she breaths out it pops so I'm not sure... it could be digestion I guess.

I think they pop more when they are soon going to shed so I'm not sure if loose skin can make those noises?

Im at a loss...
