    Super Worried
I was waiting on my snake to come in today before work, and as I left for work I saw the Fedex door tag on the ground outside my door. Apparently they tried to deliver her this morning, but I didn't hear them knock. My doorbell doesn't work, so if they tried that I wouldn't have heard it. I called them and set something up that my mom can go meet the truck at the end of his shift and he'll let her sign for my package, but I'm worried about the snake being on the truck all day. It's about 80 degrees outside today, but I don't know if it's hotter in the truck or not. Since I missed the first delivery attempt any live arrival guarantee no longer applies, regardless of whose fault it was that I missed it. I just really hope she's okay.

I cant say for certain about snakes, but most lizards that need warm to hot temperatures handle over temperature very well. And much better than under temperature by the same amount. I would look for / treat dehydration and enjoy your new family member

Ball pythons do not tolerate over temp well. Under for a short amount of time is much safer than over. At anything over 89 degrees I have seen drastic changes in ball python behavior. Too high temps can cause permanent neurological problems.

All that said, the snake is probably fine on the truck.

She should be fine. Due to a FedEx screw-up a few years ago one of my inbound snakes was put on a truck instead of a plane and it took her 48 hours to show up alive and well.

In the future I'd suggest shipping to the hub and picking her up there, or sitting in the yard in a lawn chair with a good book if your doorbell doesn't work.

Yeah, next time I'm just gonna sit outside and wait. This is the second time I've had a snake shipped to me, the other two were close enough to drive out and pick up myself. The first time I had one delivered they just left her on my porch and I happened to find her because I was expecting her and was updating the tracking info hourly. These delivery people just don't knock loud enough or something. I need to see if I can get my landlady to fix the doorbell.

Ordering animals online always has extra expenses for me. Energy drinks and chips while I sit outside waiting. Last time they showed up at almost exactly 11 when they were supposed to arrive by. I'd been sitting outsode since 6am.

Some truck or should I say vans that make express delivery have AC, around here we went from regular trucks with no AC to nice vans with AC.

Sadly it's not uncommon, those drivers have to hurry all day so anything that is to be signed for is usually a "knock once and run", which is why I never require signature, all it takes is for the person to go to the bathroom and miss the driver.

When the package does not require signature it is dropped off at the door.

Usually snakes are fine even when delayed (I have my fair share of animals delayed for 24 hours and they have all made it without issue), it mainly depends on how the animal is packed and the temperature in the truck or van (outside temps does not mean that this will be the temp in the vehicle.)
