    Personally, I've always preferred belly. Flexwatt strip at the back of the tub seems to keep a nice surface gradient in my racks.

    It a matter of efficiency, back heat will have more heat loss so I prefer belly heat if I provide a hot spot.

    Always go for belly. I feel back heat is a lot less efficient but just easier for a person to set up.
