Is it murder to throw away eggs?
My life has come to a point of change, and I am gradually selling off my herps. I need to get mostly out of herps. My geckos keep laying eggs and I do not have room to separate the breeding colonies. Is it murder to just throw away fertile eggs? So far I have been incubating all.

dont know if this is the best place for a pro-life pro-choice debate, but its not as murderous as throwing them away once they've hatched- unless you know you can pass them off properly

I'm not very familiar with the geckos, but try to get them early, freshly laid, before the embryo has had much time to develop.

We keep a rooster, so our chicken eggs are fertile. No guilt here.

No it's not murder, pretty sure that only applies to humans lol. Seems like the smart thing to do if you are trying to cut back on animals.

As soon as they're laid put them in the freezer, and then throw them away, its not alive yet, so no, its not murder

It's like having chickens on a farm, collecting and throwing those in the fridge. If you have a rooster they are likely fertile.

No, once they are just laid the embryo hasn't had time to develop. Freeze and toss, or you can offer them as tegu food to local herpers.

I'm pretty sure this is a philosophical question that no one here can answer for you (despite what science has to say about it). It's kind of analogous to the whole abortion issue...

Personally I wouldn't have a problem with it but at the same time abortion doesn't bother me either. It's really about how you feel not how others feel.

Alright people we are not going there this is not the place for this type of discussion.

Official warning, one more similar post and this thread will be moved to QT as per our TOS

Freeze, toss or better feed to egg eaters type animals if you have some.

Bottom line it is best not to hatched them if you don't plan on raising/feeding them and want out of reptiles.
