Retained Sperm or Parthogenesis?

One of my female normals just gave me seven good eggs and a smaller "boob" egg. Her last clutch was laid in 2014 and she hasn't been paired since.

Three years is a very long time for sperm retention.

If Ball Pythons are XY, parthenogenesis would mean all babies would be female. If Ball Pythons are ZW, then either gender is possible.

Too bad it's a normal. Depending on the males that have bred with her it may be impossible to conclusively state it's parthenogenesis

Just looked up ZW, found a post on this site statubg reptiles are ZW, but no, SOME reptiles are ZW, including Komodo Dragons

She's a normal and was paired with a black pastel hypo male for 2013/2014 and the babies pipped the first week of May, 2014. She was a virgin when I got her and I haven't paired her since she laid in 2014.

The normals from that clutch had bright heads with a rather busy body pattern where hers is clean. Of course if any black pastels pop out of the eggs then we'll have an answer.

Wow that's a long retention! I purchased an adult female that hadn't been paired since her last clutch almost 2 years prior, she had 4 slugs and 1 normal that I named BOGO and gave to my friends son for his birthday lol
