    Reptile Basics rhp
I am setting up my new enclosure and i always get confused on how to put the plug onbtge rhp cord. The instructions are sketchy.

What happens if its done incorrectly. Does it still heat up?? Or, if its wrong i will know because it wont work.

    I'm just worried.

I'm assuming it's 2 wires like the Pro Products one. If so, it shouldn't matter just like with heat tapes that are 2 wires as well. Can plug them in either way and they work fine.

The instructions kept stating that the one wire with ribbing eeded to be to the right but whosr right lol

My right when looking at the wire headon or was it the right while looking down the length of the cord towsrd the end where the plug goes. Lol. If that mskes any sense

IIRC, there is an illustration? Check which side of the plug the wider brass end is on. They are specific about it...somewhere. I found the directions confusing too, and once I figured it out, made a diagram, so the plug could be disassembled and re-assembled (we are moving) easily.

I can dig up the pic. If no one else responds.

I have the instructions that came with it but its so small and hard to see. If you have something clearer i would appreciate you posting it. I just want to be sure its setup right. Thanks

OK. Hold the plug so the prongs face you, and the hole for the cord insertion faces away from you. My drawing shows the wider brass prong on your left, and the smaller on the right. Hold the cord as if to insert, so that the side with the ink on it is on the top, and will match up with the left hand wider brass prong.

Hope that corresponds with the written instructions, and is clear. I realize my drawing shows left - I'm not sure how they want it oriented for L/R (maybe holding the plug as if to plug into a wall), but I've put more than one Reptile Basic RHP plug and wire together using that drawing.

    Huh.
Mine has very tiny lettering (I can't read it). I've also seen wires with a single white line. I would assume, but couldn't say for sure that the rib corresponds to the lettering/line.

I expect it is a pos/neg thing, but don't know the details.

Wish someone with more electrical exp. would chime in.

the wire with the rib side goes to the wide prong. non-rib small prong.

What happens if its wrong. Would it not heat up?? At least then I would know if it was correct. They need to make this step a little easier - clearer instructions.
