Quarantine Space

Hi, I am getting my new Dumerils Boa next week. I want to quarantine him but am limited to space. I was hoping to put his cage in my basement for the qt period. My only concern is that right now the temps in my basement are running 66/68 degrees. He will be in a T8 with an 80watt RHP.

Do you guys think this will work?? I have an oil filled heater that I could run to bring the temps up but running them while at work makes me nervous. Is it safe to run them while not home??

Any advise would be helpful.

The RHP should be able to bring the ambient up enough for a Dumerils. If it can't create a hot spot at 85*F I would add under-tank heat + thermostat, it will be cheaper overall to run than trying to heat the room.

So what you are saying is its not so much what the room temp is reading just as long as I can achieve 75 cool side and 85-88 hot side. Is this correct??
