convincing parents for second pet

I recently got a ball python and i love reptiles. I want to expand my reptile collection, but i do not think my parents will say yes. How long should i wait until i ask them for a second pet.

Dude lemme tell you my story, i got my first bp on december 24, and then on january 4th i told my dad that i had to go to the petstore for a worm, and i came back with my other bp 😂😂😂 he went 6 miles thinking i was really gonna get a worm

Lucky your dad didn't drive back the 6 miles and hand the snake back to the pet shop lol.

@OP- Not a question any of us can answer as we don't know your parents or your whole living situation. If you have a job and can take of your pets, then ask them. Assuming they don't have to deal with it.....at least that's how I would view it.

We were on our way to the store and he was like "why do you need a worm if you have crickets" he thought it was for my tarantula or vinegaroon. I just looked at him and said "you do know im not gonna get a worm right?" 😂😂😂😂 he just kept driving and was mad for 3 days

If they say yes to more snakes- great! But if they say no- respect their decision. You can make your own decisions once you move out.

Just try to show them that you are mature and responsible. Just remember to be respectful no matter what their answer is. :)

Be responsible with and committed to your current pet for at least a few months to a year. And if they say know after that, Kira has the right advice. Respect their decision until you have your own place.

I agree with the post above. Prove to them that this isn't a phase and that you can and will take care of them. Much easier to convince anyone of anything when you have a proven track record...

Their house, their rules. Can't hurt to ask now, but their answer has to be ok regardless of whether you agree or not. I don't know your financial situation, etc... so maybe it would be best to wait a while like the others suggest. Maybe save up a few bucks, show them how well you're taking care of your snake now and wait a few months? Your call though, you'd know better than we would.

I'd make sure your current pet has a good home and everything. I myself would wait 6 months to a year before asking my mother for another snake. (As of right now I'm sure she would say no given my current situation...) but make sure you can completely take care of the one snake you have before you get another, and if they still say no, respect their wishes. Their house, their rules.

Collect and read herp related books for awhile. There is still information in books that you won't find readily on the net. Become a Subject Matter Expert, so to speak, and within a couple of years, they may just come around.
