    King Ratsnake/Keeled Ratsnake/Stinking Goddess
My husband had a fail at the Zerkle Reptile table today at Tinley. This unnamed boy is a juvenile King Ratsnake. The Zerkle have so many cool Old World ratsnakes, I think the hard part was deciding.

Thanks, he's a really handsome boy. Seems pretty mellow so far.

We didn't realize until we were headed home that this was a Stinking Goddess. OTOH, Rob and Amy were very open and honest about which of their snakes were grumpy or pooping on everybody, and they didn't say anything about these guys (they had three when we were there), so I'm not too worried. But I did tell my husband that if he musked on the way home he'd owe me a new purse. :) (well, maybe it was - LL Bean discontinued the bag I'm currently using as a purse).

Yes, they will eat other snakes. He's been eating rats, we'll see how he does on Thursday.

Buford hasn't musked AFAIK, but Whooo! his enclosure has a definite pong all its own! He'll be getting complete substrate changes more often than the other snakes.

    Bump for 350z.

Appreciate the bump. Good looking kingrat. I think I'm gonna take the risk on a juvenile and see what I get after the ontogentic color change.

Last night was feeding night for the colubrids. Due to an outbreak of blue-ness in the downstairs snakes, Buford got a bonus small mouse. I put his rat pup with the nose in the entrance to his hide, as usual, then the mouse. Buford Did! Not! Approve! and hissed struck, knocking it aside. I tried again, same result. I called him an idiot and left it. Shortly thereafter one rodent was gone and he was finishing the other. [emoji57]
