    Snake Vet recommendation
Anyone know of a good snake vet in the Rockland County, NY area, or upper/north Jersey? I guess an Exotics vet that specializes in snakes? Even Westchester, NY is close enough as well.

Honestly, I would google vets, then see if they deal with exotics, and specifically ask snakes. You may find a few. I wouldn't wait for people to reply because you may not get a reply if the situation is serious.

On a side note, they had a list of exotic vets in a post years ago. I'll have to see if I can locate it.

    EDIT:
Doh it was a sticky above.

    Thanks, Neal.

Not an emergency. A friend just picked up a new ball from a local shop, and was concerned about a few "minor" things. So, he wanted to bring her in for a simple check. I haven't got my bp yet, as I'm waiting on my enclosure to be set up and ready. So, this was actually a good opportunity to try and locate a capable vet so that even for myself when the time comes (IF the time comes) that I need one I would have that info already.

I did the Google check already, and found a few. But, I know sometimes what they advertise and what's true can be not the same.

Thank you for the info. I will look through that listing you provided, and pass on the info.

Well call them and ask if they deal with snakes and have any experience with them.

Ask specifically if they have experience with the species you're keeping. We had a member recently who's vet tried to tell them their ball was "obese" and the worst case they had seen, but the picture of the snake was actually a scooch on the slim side. That vet would have starved and killed that snake because they didn't understand the thick bodied nature of ball pythons compared to colubrids.
