New rack design for my bp project!
Here is a pic of the new rack I plan on building:
https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...led_336801.bmp
All of the tubs will be sterilite tubs...
12 qt - 16 3/8'' x 11 1/2'' x 6''
24 qt - 16 3/4'' x 23'' x 6''
41 qt - 16 1/2'' x 35'' x 6''
Here is the breeding plan:
I will keep my male and female normals in the 41 qt. tubs.
I will house the new 100% het hypo female in a 41 qt. tub.
Next year I will purchase a male pastel and house him in a 41 qt. tub.
The other slots will be used to house babies and yearlings, and once they are big enough the smaller tubs will be swapped out for 41 qt tubs and a seperate hatchling rack will be built.
Those purchases should give me the abiltiy to produce:
2006- not breeding in 2006
2007- Pastels and normals from breeding the pastel to my normal female
2008- Pastel 50% het hypos, Pastels, 50% het hypos and normals from breeding the pastel to my normal female and 100% het hypo female
2009- Possibly hypo pastels, hypos, pastels, 66% het hypos and normals from breeding a pastel 50% het hypo(if it proves) to my het hypo female and normal female.
I know for all that to work out the bp gods would have to give me good luck...but I see it as a pretty good plan. What do you guys think of the plan and rack design?

Love the rack! Looks like you'll have a fun summer in 2008
Re: New rack design for my bp project!
If the odds play in my favor....It will be a great summer....ha...but that is a long time from now...:)
Re: New rack design for my bp project!
did you have the incubator?:P
Re: New rack design for my bp project!
the incubator is going to be built the same time as the rack....hopefully some time next month :)
Re: New rack design for my bp project!
The entire thing will be built out of plywood. For heating I was planning on using 3' strips of 3" flexwatt as belly heat on each shelf. I will probably recess the strips of flexwatt into the plywood shelves to avoid the tub wearing the flexwatt out. I was wondering if the 3" flexwatt would be enough to keep good temps and provide a large enough hot spot.
