    acurite probe
hello all. i cleaned out my tub today for its first monthly clean, and now my probe for my hot spot is higher than normal. i switched to repti chip today as well. a little about my set up. my tub is stationary so i did not have to unplug anything to clean it. all i did was take all the aspen and old newspaper out and i cleaned inside. both of my hides are sitting on the newspaper and the reptichip is all around the rest of his tub. i set my thermostat to 95 to get inside his hide to an 91. i haven't change anything on the thermostat or anything. i even sprayed my f10 away from the probe just to be more careful. this has been about 5 hours ago and when i check my acurite its reading 95 but my thermostat is reading 92. my temp gun is reading the top of his newspaper at 89/90. is my acurite messing up? i have checked three times and the last time i just notice reese finally starting his first shed. any help is appreciated, so i dont want to keep disturbing him. should o go with my temp gun and the reading on my t stat?

There usually is a 3 degree difference for any thermometer....so use your judgment. I shoot at the middle so its not to hot or to cool. Like 89, that gives you 85/86 lowside or 91/92 high side.. Also remember you will loose a couple degrees above the paper..thats why i shoot that with a laser.. My probe on glass is usually 94 but over paper is 91.

yea thats what im getting so im o.k with that. i have it at 95 and the top of my paper is about 91 im just worried about the acurite probe reading. before today it never did this and all my configuration is the same. do you think some f10 probably got on the probe? i sprayed away from it but im not sure if any got on the probe. im trusting my temp gun um just curious about the acurite probe reading.

just an update. reese shed a perfect shed late last night this morning. i believe what the problem was, that the reptichip was not dry as i thought after i let it sit for a while. so this morning i pulled all of it out and just replaced it with newspaper and i put it in the oven on 200° ts been over two hours and the acurite is reading properly now. i think that the moist damp reptichip which was around the paper where the probe is made the reading higher.
