Infrared light as Day and Night Cycle?
Hi everyone. I'm a new snake owner and I've read threads saying infrared red lights can be kept on day and night. But I've been wondering if I use it as a day and night cycle. My room gets really bright in the morning.

Right now, I'm only using the red infrared bulb and UTH to maintain heat.. But I don't know if it will be a good enough day and night cycle.

    Please help~:tears:

my BP's don't have a real day/night cycle. They are nocturnal and that logic would dictate that in the wild they don't need to see the sun or be exposed to it. the light in your room in the am should be more than enough for them to know when its day vs. night.

the infrared bulb wont hurt anything, but you could switch to a ceramic heat emitter instead, no light and more efficient for heat.

There really isn't much proof to if snakes can see infrared light, it's thus suggested to use ceramic bulbs if leaving them always on.

Also BPs don't really need a day and ight cycle.

As you have a UTH to keep the hotpot just turn on the bulb only during the day and you're ok.

I use the IR heat bulbs 24/7 for a few of my snakes and they doesn't seem to bother them at all. I really like the red heat bulbs for night viewing too.

Uth during the day Inffared at night??
    I知 freaking out!!!!!!!
I知 clueless on a happy medium for my tank temps.
im well aware temps during the day need to be (hot side) 90-95 degrees and the cool side 80-85 degrees.

im reaching 94 on the warm side and 78-80 on the cool side during the day with only a Uth
I was told those temps are too warm for night time. I was told to use 50 watt infrared bulb only and turn off the uth.
so far my warm side is 83 and my cool side is 78.
    is this ok?
Will my snake be ok with out belly heat at night?
I am a new BP owner and need some help! And tips !! Please!!
    I have a 20 gallon glass terrarium

I also use IR bulbs on all my snakes, and have no problems what so ever. I致e used them for as long as I can remember. I知 a big fan of them!

This is your 3rd post, your first 2 were in a thread from 2012 and the other from 2014. Craig already told you if you need help start your own thread.
    Stop posting in older threads.
    Thanks.
