Help! What is this?
I have just found this strange brown thing in my BP's mouth, any ideas what it is? He is on aspen substrate, which is a different colour then the thing in his mouth. He ate a weanling F/T 5 days ago, with no problems. It is now hidden behind his lip. He is not showing any signs of distress or discomfort.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e0eb79b72b.jpg

Re: Help! What is this?
looks like a piece of aspen bedding stuck. you can try and rub it out gently with a cotton swab, but if is embedded in the skin, he may need a vet to remove it

It looks like substrate to me. Have you tried to remove it?

grab them right behind the head; it will be uncomfortable for the snake but it is necessary. once you have the head between your index and thumb give the snake a TINY squeeze until it opens its mouth a little. try tweezers to grab the obstruction.

Re: Help! What is this?
Thank you all for the help. I successfully removed it, and it was only a small piece of substrate that had changed colour from being in his mouth. I appreciate all the help given to me, thanks again.

That's good to hear. I would keep an eye on it. Look for swelling or any sign of infection.

Re: Help! What is this?
That's the third snake I've seen today with issues of either swallowing or making odd noises and all on aspen .
Is there a known issue with it or are they just coincidences ?
I know it's relatively popular but I presumed that's because it's so cheap .
