I guess this is the best place to post this -

My Reptile Basics radiant heat panel just arrived, to be put in an Animal Plastics T8. I'm looking at the screws it came with though, and am wondering if they aren't a mite too long. They look to be exactly an inch. When I eyeball the thickness of the cage ceiling and the thickness or "depth" of the RHP (part of it is recessed, adding to "height" of it, if you've got one you know what I mean) it kind of looks like there will be too much screw left after it passes through the RHP. That it will end up poking up through the top of the T8. Before I start screwing (yeah keep your clever comments to yourself) I thought I'd ask if that has been an issue for anyone, or if I am worrying needlessly.

    Yes
They are to long. I actually got lucky and had animal plastics install mine but I have read you need shorter ones

Glad I asked...anyone know the exact length the screws need to be? 3/4" maybe?

I would also like to know what length screw to use as I am about to order a RBI RHP.

Jarvis or anyone else that has one could you look at this photo and tell me which side of the panel faces the snake? Thanks.

Photo isn't working for some reason, it's at this link. http://www.silviav8forums.com/snakeRHP.jpg

yes that side with the text on it faces downwards. the panel itself has a sticker-thing on it that says "THIS SIDE UP"

Sounds like you have one, did you put it in an Animal Plastics cage? If so what screws did you use?

I just went through this too. You can use smaller screws or just not mount it too tight so it doesnt push through the top.
I thought the "lens" would be the back and couldnt find any pictures online of one mounted. But once you turn it on its pretty evident that it gets hot on the one side.

I think I may just use a nut and bolt.

yup, in my T8. i used the screws that came with it; they were taped onto the panel when i opened the box.
if i remember they were about an inch long and didn't poke through the top, but i made sure not to tighten it so much that they did.
