Scaleless Project

What is everyone's thoughts on the Scaleless Heads and Scaleless Project in general. They've really grown on me.

I haven't seen too much on it lately. If anyone has a picture of an adult super I'd like to see it. I was going to get involved with this and chickened out. Too many unknowns. I decided to chase Super Gravel instead.

Not a bad route for sure. I know that Winstons Pastel Scaleless male is now breeding, I'm curious how his super pastel scaleless female will breed later this year. I recently acquired a male scaleless head.

i used to be in the camp of "snakes are SUPPOSED to have scales! this is wrong!"
of course i did some research, and came to my own conclusion that these are captive animals that are in no danger due to their genetics; they're not out in the wild where being scaleless would cause them harm. at most, they just need a bit higher humidity than their scaly brothers and sisters.

if it was in my price range i'd have a scaleless corn or beep in a heart-beat. at the very least i just want to hold one!

Not fan, hatchlings look good nd I like the, adult not so much IMO (I prefer scaleless rats and corns), but that's what's great about BP there is something for everyone.

If I am gonna have something in my rack it has to be something I REALLY enjoy looking at.

I was offered some scaleless heads and turn them down.

You're exactly right. I don't think I'll ever breed for pure Scaleless, but I do love the color enhancement and clean patterns the scaleless heads provide.

Honestly it doesn't really do it for me, at least not right now. Maybe once some cooler combos like the scaleless clowns (or scaleless sunsets :rolleyes:) are produced I'll change my mind but for right now the whole scaleless thing just doesn't appeal to me. It's not that I think there's something inherently wrong with breeding them they're just not for me. If I had the money and was looking to get into a newer recessive project I'd go for sunset or monsoon. Puzzle is also really high on my list but those other two are just a bit above it.

Honestly with all of the things that I've read about like missing heat pits and its general skin fragility, I just can't promote it. I also really don't find that it adds much to the appearance of the snake IMHO.

That's been a misconception, they are not missing heat pits. The Scaleless only lack the scales over the pits. They still are very capable of heat detection. The protein channels are still very much in tact as well as the membrane that detects the actual infrared radiation. Just thought I'd clear that up.

I've been curious about this too, they look pretty cool but I do wonder how they fare in the long run.
