Rack System & Tub Sizes

Hello. New to the world of snakes, and learning at the moment, before I get my first snakes.

If I use a rack system, what size might be the smallest tubs I can use for adult ball pythons?

Don't ask what the smallest you can use is. Ask what the best you can use is!
I don't mean to be rude but if you don't have room to have as big enclosure as your snake needs, then you should find something else to keep.

But I'll try to answer you. The females need bigger tubs than the males. Adult females should be in a V70 tub (about 34x18 inch), and adult males can be in about 23x16 inch tubs.
I like to keep both males and females in V70 tubs.

I've kept adult females in 32qt tubs, but I think 42qt is better for them.

If you're saying that in general, sure I agree. If you're directing that to me based on what I asked, that's ridiculous. I never said I didn't have room, or that I want to stuff snakes into a small enclosure because I don't have the room. Please don't assume without knowing my specific situation.

You're right, if you can't house a snake, or any pet for that matter, in the appropriate sized enclosure, you shouldn't house that animal at all. But, how can I know the size without asking?

So, maybe I worded the question wrong. What's the minimal size to house the animal comfortably? So, a 34x18. That's fine. No big deal. So, that's like a 50 qt I think?

Those 42qt tubs... maybe that's like the 34x18? Do you know the dimensions on those?

And, lastly, would this size be good for other snakes as well? We'll say corns, kings, rats, and other colubrids?

I'd like to start out with one ball python. But, eventually, move onto more.

I believe the CB-70 is a 42qt tub. They are pretty big.

I don't know anything about keeping those snakes in tubs. I know they have different heating requirements so as long as each shelf is on a different thermostat, you could house multiple species in the same rack. I'll let someone else chime in who has done it.

Thank you. Just trying to get an idea of what sort of setup I need to have with a rack. I have a nice corner in the house that's asking to be used. And, I think a rack system would definitely work out in that area.

I keep males and females up to 2000 grams in 32 quarts tubs (Animal Plastic Racks) and I keep females above 2000 grams in V70 tubs (C-Serpents Racks)

Generally speaking, and in reference specifically to snake keeping since I'm sure the length and width are the more important numbers, will a 32 qt tub from store A and a 32 qt from store B be the same dimensions?

They'll have similar dimensions, but not the same. That's why it can be a pain when the tub size you use for your racks are discontinued - it can be a major pain to find something else that works.

No you have all kind of 32 quarts out there some will little floor space a lot of height some with proper floor space and lower height however even among those there might be some difference, with 1/2 inch or more difference in the length or width or height.

You want to buy the same brand tub (same model) and get them all at once whether you buy or build a rack, sterile and Rubbermaid for example are known to change there design every so many years, I have an AP rack with sterilite 32 quarts tubs in which their new 32 quarts tubs I use in newer racks do not fit.

Now V70 and all the Vision line tubs remain the same years after yeas since they are specifically designed for reptiles.
