    Question for new rack
I haven't had ball pythons for about 12 years now. I want to get back into them and I am looking at a pair to get. I want to get my rack set up first. I built one before however I kept the lids on the tubs at that time. I see many people build racks without the lids now. Since these snakes are going to be an expense I am worried about them getting out. If I were to go with a lidless design, how much of a gap should be left between the tub and the self? I can't have the snakes escaping as they will be housed in my bedroom and my two dogs will be in the same room throughout the day. The last thing I want to do is come home to a dead escaped snake.

    Thanks for any input.

Welcome back and I plan on using 1/8" spacer as that's what I've been advised to use very soon.

1/8" is good. I use screen clips on my racks to prevent the snake from pushing the tub open. I have never had an escape.

They are clear little plastic things that are used to hold screens in windows in place but can turn easily so you can remove it. Great for racks in my opinion!

I'll take a photo tomorrow for ya

These are super old photos but I still use the white rack and the little clips. They just screw into the melamine shelf.
