    Switching From Mice to Rats
This thread isn't so much about HOW to transition my ball python from mice to rats, but more how this transition works. Will my ball python be able to recognize rats as food once I get one down the hatch? Or will I have to "disguise" the rats from now on?

It's not that bad. Not for me anyways. When I switched I just fed the first rat pup live and they took f/t with no issues after that. I got lucky I guess.

I have done the transition with no issue twice already from live mice to F/T rats, which is usually not recommended to do at the same time.
All I did was skip feeding one week or 2 of feeding then they take it right away.

Granted mine were babies when I made the switch, I'm pretty sure they would eat anything I throw in there! :P

Most ball pythons have no issues switching. In fact I've fed rats/asf/mice to many different snakes and they all switch back and forth just fine.

As long as the snake is a strong feeder, it shouldn't have an issue.
