Dog and snake?

I have a mid sized dog, and nips a lot would it be okay if my ball python is out around him?

could it harm my ball python?? am i allowed to sit on the couch with my BP and my dog?

No, a nippy dog and a ball python? Sounds like a really bad combination. Besides the fact that your bp might see the dog as a predator and get stressed, a little nip from the dog to you will not be the same to a snake. I wouldnt do it, there is no need to, I mean, you could hold the bp with the dog around, sure, not a problem there. But letting the bp move freely around the dog, thats a big no-no. If you want your bp to crawl around for a while, i would put the dog in a different room

There is zero reason to put your BP in this scenario. At best, it'll stress him out. At worst, I don't think it needs to be said.

I guess you could (if you really really really want to). BUT only if the dog is not on you smelling and harrasing your snake. If the dog is far and not paying attention then sure. But remember, its a big risk to the snake and there is not one reason to do it. If you wanna watch tv with the snake then the dog has to be far away

I personally wouldn't risk it

There is nothing good about this scenario period. Snakes aren't domestic animals and should never be thought of or treated as such. The ball python will get the worst of that deal whether its just stress or getting hurt which could lead to a infection/sickness ect...
Also I know your only talking about a Ball Python but don't forget Pythons & several other snakes are Prey driven...he might just tag the living heck out if of you hahahha.
My Burmese would cause a Nightmare if he was loose & my Dogs came into the room I keep him in... I have had a handful of situations over 29 years where one of my dogs (and once a Cat) came into the room I kept my snakes in and I thought the Glass was going to shatter when he started striking it!

From my perspective, and that is from someone who has trained hunting dogs, it would be bad for you and the dog. If your dog becomes accustomed to calm snakes, an at best experience, it might perceive a snake in the wild as ok and become bitten. My dogs have taken rattlesnake avoidance classes. Why? For her protection and mine. If she alerts to the snakes scent, sound or sight she will freeze in her tracks. And that's why she's never in the same room as my snake when I'm handling it. Just my 2 cents.

Dont put your snake at risk please. Not worth it. We would hate to see a post called "Ball python bit by dog"
