Does anyone here breed and freeze their own rats? My breeding operation is getting away from me a bit with too many rats so I decided to gas a few with CO2 and freeze them for later. I actually had a bunch in the freezer that were getting way too old and I threw them all out, none had dates on them so I didn't want to chance them. But I did notice that the ones that were vacuum sealed seemed to keep much better. So I decided to give it a shot with my food saver. They seem to come out really good, the only problem I'm having is that they tend to bleed out a bit after the vacuum sealing process and it's not very appealing (I won't post that photo), especially if I decide to try to sell some on the side. Does anyone have any tips for vacuum sealing rodents without giving them a bloody nose? I would rather not freeze them first because when they are still limber they pack very well in paper plates. Perhaps I could freeze them just enough to chill them first without getting them solid as a rock?
