    More TMI - Poop
OK, Kashmire will be going to the vet Saturday morning. Question is...I JUST watched him poop. How weird! The tip of his tail was wiggling, and his body all shrunk in (until he was done).

Question is, should I bag this poop and keep in fridge for testing of parasites? Will it be "good" that long or not?

First poop since aquiring him 12 days ago. He also hasn't had blue eyes, but is much duller than when I first got him. Will they ever shed without first getting the blue eyes? He's doing a lot of visits to his water dish. Staying in for about a minute, then getting out and doing his nightly prowls, but more visits to the water bowl (no external parasites that I can see). Temps are remaining regulated.

OK, off to get the snake poop and put in a baggy in fridge, "just in case".

You might also remember that he regurgitated his first meal with me after two days (with no handling after the feed). Another reason for the vet visit (thank you Bellsouth for your timely refund check for my DSL! LOL)

I would put the poop in a baggy in the fridge just in case. I am not sure if it will remain a good sample until Saturday. Becky will be able to tell you if it will stay good or not...she is the resident Poop Scene Investigator:D

Well, in any case, it was fascinating watching his back 1/4th doing weird contortions! Isn't it crazy how the most normal bodily functions fascinate us "newbies" to ball python husbandry? LOL

Now it is way past my bedtime, the alarm will be going off in 5 hours, it's off to bed I go!

By the way, put the poop in a ziplock baggy, then wrapped that gently with paper towel and "hid" it in the fridge (not sure bf would be too thrilled to find out I'm keeping snake poop in the fridge)! LOL

Oh, he also had two urate crystals too. I threw those out. It's so nice to have such a clean animal to care for! That's my boy!

Now, if we can solve the problem of his regurg, I'll be a happy momma ('cause that really has me worried, what with him being my first bp and I adore him so much!)

The poop is always best fresh, but I'd keep it take anyway. Keep it in the frig and keep it moist. (If you notice it drying out mist it with a bit of water) If your vet is close by you can always drop it off early and that would get it out of the frig so they bf doesn't notice. ;)

Maybe give your vet a call and like Christie said if they are close enough you could drop it off to them a few days earlier than your appointment. Also they can tell you specifically if it's still useable after a few days in the fridge.

Hope all works out well at the appointment.
