Quick 6.
Jewel had 2 large rats today. One was a F/T and the other was a live refusal from the royal. I'm a tad upset because the rat did get a little nick in on her. Although she really made a mess of the rat as well.
I prefer F/T always but the royal is just so picky I don't have the time to go F/T with her. Believe me I've tried it all. Obviously she is so picky live isn't a sure thing either.
Anyhow, here is Jewel in her display cage. Almost all of these pictures came out far worse than I was expecting.
This is her 3D background. I think it is just awesome.

She's a climber and did all of her eating from the perches.

Here she is looking for a drink.

She's pushing 7 feet now but still is very lean. She doesn't have the developed triangular, carpet head just yet. She is coming up on 4 years old, but I suspect she is still putting on a bit of length before she fills out.

Looking good as usual Gio! :)
Interesting about the head. My 2, 3.5 year old Coastals aren't developing a big triangle head either. They both have small triangles.
Now Lizzie, my 7 year old Coastal has a big Triangle head.
It will be interesting to see what becomes of our three still growing Coastals.

Hey,
are the heads of your coastals a bit more flat as well?
Jewel has a very flat head (top). I read in Nick and Justin's book some coastals have flatter heads. It may have been a locale of coastal. I'll have to re-read it.
At the reptile store today, the male and female Bredli were enormous. Like boas constrictor sized big!
Thanks for the kind words!

Jewel is such a pretty girl Gio. It's nice that she can eat such a large meal and still maintain that slender figure :). I'm lovin that 3D background too.

Yes, I'd say those two have flatter heads than Lizzy. But then those big bumps on each side of the head behind the eyes are not as pronounced either. You know, they are similar looking to venom sacs on a hot snake.
Looking closer at Lizzy and it appears those bumps/nodules/jaw muscles? add to the triangle shape when more pronounced.

Lizzy, not the best photo for illustration. But those two raised nodules do cause a divot in the center. Hard to see here.

Mack here showing a flatter head.

This photo shows Etta's flat head pretty well.

Mack has a very similar head to Jewel.
I really notice the muscles on the sides and top of almost all albino carpets. It resembles two balloons on each side. And generally jungle carpets have very triangular heads. At least the ones I've seen. Obviously things differ from snake to snake, and age plays a role in the development of the head. But I do see variation between species. Bredli carpets have a very unique head too.

I've never really paid much attention to albinos since I'm not into the morphs.
My Jungle does have a definite triangle head, small, but then she is just 2.5 years old.

I'm not a morpher either LOL!
Here are some "bottom of the barrel" shots. I was going to delete them but I guess I'll post them.

You can see where the rat nicked her. I used a dab of Neosporin on that nick.
Blurry but I like her on that rock wall.

I wish this one would have come out better.

She's doing great, and I'm sure she could down a 2+ pound rabbit. These two large rats have not left as much of a lump as I thought they would.

Re: Quick 6.
She looks awesome Gio. Good to see she was hungry. I am also curious about the head shape. We have 4 coastals and a Bredli. 3 of the coastals have narrower heads like Jewel and they range from 4 months to almost 2 years old. However Isabel has a very wide triangular head and is almost 2 also. The Bredli is still young but she has the typical bulldog looking head haha. I don't know if it fills out as they age or if it is more genetic.

Good observations.
I can tell Jewel is slowly getting a bigger head. I will re-read the coastal section in THE COMPLETE CARPET PYTHON and see what I find. I could swear there was a part about a certain locale of coastal that had flatter heads than other species and maybe other coastals.
I think they get wider as they age. 3.5 years is still very young and I think she is still adding length.
Keep me posted on what you see as your animals age!
