    Tape Nonsense
What do you guys use to secure your UTH to the bottom of your enclosures? I picked up some foil tape from the hardware store and it was the only brand they had. It has been coming unstuck every so often and refuses to stay. Quite done with this tape so here I am asking. I have plastic tubs btw.

Most everyone uses Aluminum tape..maybe you got a bad roll. Id have to scrape mine to try and get it started in order to pull it off.

Possibility. This did stick on great when first applied but after a couple days use it's peeling off.

I actually tape the probe to the heat pad, and then just set my tank/tub on top of it. So I can move the tub/tank around conveniently too, and it doesn't mess up the UTH.

Try taking some sand paper and remove some of the "gloss" top layer of the tub where the tape goes. It will stick far better.

Wouldn't that affect what it is sitting on? I suppose it wouldn't harm say metal or wood.

    Thank you, I'll do that.

    .

I'm not sure what you mean, but I used tubs and they were on a wood shelf.

What I like to do is this (whether on tub, cage or any enclosure)

I position the probe on the heat tape, fasten it with tape so it stays where I want it to stay.

Than I fasten the heat tape to the enclosure, so that the probe is in between the enclosure and the tape.

Last thing I fasten a thin sheet of styrofoam on the bottom of all this, to keep the heat tape insulated and off of whatever the enclosure is sitting on.

So basically its enclosure, probe, heat tape, styrofoam. Everything stays nicely in place and where I want it to stay, and its nicely insulated.
