Hog Island Boa Housing

I am thinking of getting a hog island boa and have an extra tank that is 72" long 18" wide and 24" high. Would this work for an adult? I know that is is long enough but I'm worried its too narrow.

That width is not ideal, but should work fine. It's great on the length and the height is good for providing climbing opportunities. As you probably know, Hogs are not big Boas.

I had my 5-5.5 ft Boa in a 12" wide temporary tank for a few months. Now that WAS too narrow! I felt horrible, and moved him out as soon as I could.

You will figure out down the road if the home needs to be replaced with something better.

I personally would say no as even a Hog is still going to get around 4-5' and you are talking a width of 1.5'. not even half the width of the snake. 2' is the minimum you want. With that said, that cage would work fine for at least a year or 2 as boas grow slow. The biggest issue will be getting the humidity and heating correct as anyone who used glass tanks knows how much bubblegum and tape it takes to make them work, myself included lol.

It's a bit narrow but not overly so. I have a 7' female dumerils in that same size tank and she's fine, and your hog island won't get anywhere near as massive as she is. Just make a plexiglass or some other type of solid top for it to keep heat and humidity inside, an open screen top will let way too much of the heat and humidity out.

It's too narrow- I have a female at 5', wider would be better, 24" would be a good minimum.
