UTH location question

First post. First python, close friend who is a breeder finally got me into it. Overly nervous owner of an amazing bumble-bee female.

My current set-up is a sterilite 15 quart with a hide, water dish, UTH reptitherm 5 gal 4W, thermostat regulator.

The bin is on a section of carpet (not wall-wall) and my UTH heater is taped beneath the bin with the heat probe taped beneath that (hide placed above the UTH heater but bin plastic sandwiched between). I'm waiting on a heat gun tomorrow but temps seem fine (keeping it around 90). First night I got her she was roaming around at night. Second day I fed her a pup and she took it within the hour. During the day she stays in the hide, currently digesting, not messing with her now.

My question now is I want to move the bin beneath my bed where there is hard-wood flooring, instead of on the carpet. The advantage is it would then be in a generally warmer part of my room (being under the bed and all) which would also be darker (the bin is covered on top with a cloth table mat). Is there a significant difference? Is there a risk as there is about only a half-inch space from the UTH heater to the wood floor (the probe between them). The bin has a slight maybe 1/4 inch raised edge all around on the bottom so there is no direct contact with the floor but it would be close.

I'm thinking on a wood floor there is less heat retention as opposed to carpet, so the UTH would have to work harder (and eventually less efficiently) to keep the temp?

first things first the probe needs to be between the UTH and the bin, and you need a secondary thermometer measuring the temp on the inside against the bin. You also could probably do with two hides, one hot and one cool side.

secondly you are going to want to keep that gap between the bottom of the tub and the floor, no gaps can cause the UTH to overheat/malfunction due to no heat exchange and ultimately lead to a shortened lifespan for the device.

Your setup is fine as long as you are checking the inside floor temperature.
Under the bed I would put some feet on the tub, not real tall just like 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
