    Tank clips?...
I completely forgot (but thankful I actually remembered before having to use the "how do I find my escaped snake thread") about tank clips. I'll be putting my subadult female in a 20L tank and my hatchling male for a few weeks to a month in a rather big Rubbermaid or similar container. So my question is what do I use to secure the lids on both as best as possible without it taking an hour to take the lid off?

They make Tank Clips for the 20L screened lids. They are usually $3.99 for 2, i use 4 as one of my snakes is constantly pushing at the lid at night. Make sure they are for the 20G because the plastic lip changes from 10/20/30/50.
As far as the Plastic Tote you use buy the one that has the clips on each side. Mine have little blue clips that click up on each end. If your still worried throw a 10lb free weight ontop.
LOWES sell these in about 4 different sizes. They work great. When you drill a couple hoses in the sides dont push.. Let the drill do the work or they can fracture.

My screen top doesn't fit perfectly snug over my enclosure, so just for added security I added a strip of adhesive rubber insulation around the lip of the enclosure. I found it at Home Depot and it worked perfectly. I highly doubt there was room for the snake to escape, but figured it couldn't hurt, and now the screen top fits perfectly. I also didn't like the rounded style clips they sell at petsmart, and switched to the ones they have at Petco that are almost L shaped. They fit flush to the tank, are extremely easy to install and are simple and quick to get on/off.

But what about Rubbermaid tubs such as this one:

Not this exact one it'll be a bigger one as it's just the hatchlings temporary home until he gets a little bigger and I'll give him his glass enclosure.

Which I may skip the glass enclosure later when I decide to build a rack. If I build it this spring he may just go straight into a rack instead of glass enclosure.

My snake lives in a glass tank that has the top divided in thirds. The middle third has a piece of glass attached to the tank that doesn't come out and the left and right were open.
I bought two window screen frames and put aluminum mesh in them. Either one slides over the glass third to open. However, nothing really holds them down. So I also bought 4 corner braces like this one

And attached two (front and back) for each screen top. They're screwed onto the wooden frame of the tank so that the mesh frames still slide under them but with enough friction that the snake can't slide them open by himself.

Before I had the braces I kept a cinder block on each one but they became a pain to move off and off the tank after a while. The braces work great and while he spends many nights trying to escape, he hasn't been successful once.
You can kind of see them in this picture. If you look closely you can also slightly see the mesh frames on each side of the tank peeking over. I can take a better picture when I get home later.

They're not bulky at all and I won't have to open or take off any pieces to open the enclosure, which is why I like it :)
