He's shedding right in front of me!
*screams quietly so as not to disturb Shikara* He's in his hide peeling out of his old skin but I can see him. This is cool! It's coming off in one piece and he's all shiny. Yeah! I must be doing something right then. *runs off to watch some more*:D

I am happy for you. That is something pretty cool to watch and it happens so fast that you rarely catch it. The fact that it is all coming off is great too and that shiny aftershed look is the best :D

The skin came off in one piece. Total length is 48" and the length from the tip of the tail to the small opening is 4". You suppose he'll be reading to eat? It's been two weeks since his last one. Last Saturday I was gonna feed him but I noticed his eyes looking hazy and he didn't seem to want me messing with him. Course he did eat two small rats the last time. Man, this is cool. I am so truely enjying having a snake.

Yep he is probably ready to eat. I usually wait to my usual feeding day (Monday) and feed after the shed. But if you want to feed now, go for it :). Were you just measureing the shed to measure it or were you trying to use it to measure the length of your bp? if you were going to use that measurement as your bps length, it might not be too accurate because bp skins tend to get streched when they shed....so a few inches might have got added. Congrats on witnessing a good shed :D

Normal feed day is Saturdays. I was just curious as to the approx. length. I had guess-timated between 44" and 47". I'm looking forward to seeing him cruising around his enclosure again. Will he shed once a month? His last shed was right at a month ago according to the friend that gave him to me. Okay this will probably be a odd question but is there a way to clean the shed skin? I'd kind a like ot hang it up. Am I weird?

The time between shed varies because it depends on how fast your bp grows. I usually get sheds every 1-1.5 months. Clean the shed? What does it have on it? When I had loose substrate, I would just pick it off. I usually just hang mine up. If you would like it to look nice lay it on something flat and get all the wrinkles out...because they are hard to get out once it dries. Nope not weird...I keep old sheds too :D

    Coyotemoon,

How cool that Shikara had his first shed for you! I can't wait for Kashmire's first shed!

I'm afraid he'll probably shed while I'm out of town in a week (my dad's 70'th b'day). Boyfriend will be taking care of all the babies (furred and scaled) while I'm gone.

I've seen Baby shed once and it was amazing tho kind of funny watching her flex and wiggle out of the old skin. She's yet to leave us a shed that's worth keeping tho, they are always in a roll sort of but since they are complete I'm happy LOL.

We've had Baby shed 3 times in the 2.5 months we've owned her but then that would make sense since she's grown an awful lot in that time period. I know most snakes aren't very interested in eating but Baby eats whether she's in blue, actively shedding, whatever....2 days before feeding night she's busy lurking madly looking for a meal to "wander by" LOL.
