My snake will only eat in his enclosure
Is it normal for my corn to only accept food in his enclosure?

He's 4 years old now and a really shy snake never even once hissed or tried to strike at me, so I don't think it'll ever become an issue just wanted to know if this happens to anyone else.

I tried taking him out of his cage to feed him but he rejected it which he's never done before in his enclosure. Then I put him back in his cage and offered again and he struck it immediately.

    Welcome to the forum CPF.

Sorry, I don't see the problem here.

Feeding within the enclosure is practiced here by an overwhelming majority.

Thanks for the response and pic. Is that an ap cage? That's a cool hide first time seeing one from up above.

Yea I figured most ppl feed inside their enclosures. I had to get some mice from Petco a couple of weeks ago because most of the places online were sold out of the sizes I needed and I mentioned I only feed my snakes inside of their enclosures and the guy looked at me like I was crazy lol and said he wouldn't recommend it.

Yes that's an AP cage. My Carpet Pythons and Boas won't use ground hides.

I fiqured either Petsmart or Petco put that doubt into your head. They still preach feeding in a separate enclosure since day one. Needless to say they are not current by a long shot.

My girlfriend's 8 year old corn eats in his enclosure and has no "aggressive" tendencies at all. I feed all my snakes in their enclosures as well because it's easier and I wouldn't want to have to move a large snake back into it's enclosure after a meal.

I feed all my 20 snakes in their enclosures. Just be careful when you pick them up, most are in feeding mode when you open the tub, you have to use a hook for bigger snakes to snap them out of it. Or for my smaller snakes I'll pull out the tub before I pick them up, seems to pull them right out of feeding mode. And if they are still a bit snappy I'll put the tub on the table and turn it 180 degrees, for some reason it confuses them and they are puppy dog tame even if they start out super aggressive. Maybe it makes them dizzy LOLOLOL.

Luckily none of my snakes are cage aggressive yet, I handle them often so they're used to me reaching into their enclosures. I might switch to the hook method once my boa gets bigger tho, I currently use the closed fingers open hand method but not sure I want to try that once it gets bigger lol

I got bit exactly once by a corn and only then because I dropped her dinner. I always fed her inside her vivarium and apart from the one time I dropped her food I never had an issue. I would tell this person they are talking nonsense, 15 years of dealing with a bottomless pit and obesity related death suggests to me that its silly to not feed them inside.
