Any way to encourage follicle development?
I'm figuring that even though I'm pairing and they're locking, she probably doesn't have significant follicles, because I can't feel anything for crap. LOL

Are there ways to encourage follicle development, other than dropping the temperature a bit? I'm just barely dropping the UTH to 84~86 at night, making an ambient of around 70, but no idea if that's helping/enough. She's getting one medium rat every 2 weeks right now.

I'm at my first breeding season and sometimes I think I can feel them, sometimes not. I'm sure it take practice to do it reliably.

Beside dropping the temp and breeding (a bit disputed) the other significant trigger is thought to be increased feeding. I let mine eat as much as they want, sometimes a medium every 5 days, although they've slowed down now that the breeding season is at his fullest. Only after ovulation is better to reduce the prey size and frequency.

One more thing I found beneficial, mostly to breeding, is an occasional bump in humidity. I give a quick stray of water once a week to the breeding female tubs.

    Good luck with your projects

Thanks, I actually never heard of the increased feeding thing before, but I'll try it! Even if it's disputed, whatever might work. I wish she would take f/t... it would make things so much easier.
