An osage bow for a buddy

I'm not sure how many archers are in here. But I feel like I'd might as well show off my creative outlet.

This is an osage orange (hedge apple) bow I made if a friend of mine. I made it in the mollegabet style with narrow stiff levers. It pulls 41 pounds at a 28" draw. And the snake skin is artificial copper head. So a thin, strong cotton fabric with a pattern print.

Dude, that is awesome!

Beautiful. I know working the tiller on that has got to be a challenge since you have to stay in the same grain and all. Great job. Back in the day I used to shoot a laminate longbow that a friend of mine made. He also made self bows out of osage. Great job.!

Thanks. This one was pretty straight forward to tiller. Except that the wood didn't want to respond to my scraping. This bow took quite a bit longer to respond to wood removal than they normally do.

Here's another osage orange bow I got finished for another guy. It draws 45# at 28" draw and is pretty quick for its poundage. And very fun to shoot. I figure if might as well make this my bow making thread.

You have a real talent. My dad had a nice collection of bows. He really enjoyed the sport. Yours is very fine.
