The train crossing barricade failed (investigation pending) and a FedEx truck ended up toast. Fortunately no one was hurt or killed.

As for what tracking would say, I haven't seen a package that went through this kind of experience. "System Failure" is probably my best guess.
Keep in mind that for live shipments, FedEx waives ALL liability (it's in the contract for live animal shipping certification) which would include train smash, or attacked by space ship. So if your reptile package got smashed by a train, or left in a snowbank, FedEx has no liability for it.
You can insure your shipments with ShipYourReptiles, but that is a self-funded program, FedEx still doesn't cover the losses or any DOAs back to us. We paid out over $50,000 in claims for 2016 (most of that is for late arrival), the program works, and pays.
