ultratherm heat mats, proportional heating + herpstats
just curious on the herpstat intro+:
i have ultratherm heat mats from Reptile Basics and with my Jump Start thermostats i'm having a hard time having steady regulation. i know there's a 2° delta but the actual temp isn't +-2°, almost like +-3 or +-4. it's not terrible but it is worrisome.
i bought the herpstat intro+ (not here yet) to try and rectify this so i'm looking for any insight into ultratherm mats or the herpstat intro+ on their own. i have a glass tank and a T8 so they handle heat a bit differently: on the glass tank i used to have a Zoomed adhesive UTH but i wasn't a fan. any insight into the Ultratherm or Herpstat intro+ would be much appreciated.

I have the intro+, what is your exact question?

i guess the term "proportional heating" is something i'm not familiar with. i think on their website it says something like 0.9° accuracy... i guess i'm wondering how you like yours. sorry for the ramble up there!

not to the best of my knowledge.

i will say: i hooked my Intro+ up to my T8 today and oh my goodness i can't believe i've survived with on/off 'stats for over 2 years. herpstats are superb! i'm so glad i spent the money.
however, maybe someone can help with setting my other one up to my glass tank. obvi the T8 has a place for the probe, but idk where to put the probe for my glass tank. yes between the UTH and glass, but i feel the space the probe leaves interferes with an accurate temp reading. the jump start 'stat was tough to dial in with the probe between the glass and mat, but still had a wider range than i was comfy with, so i had to change it. currently with my Jump Start 'stat: the probe is aluminum taped to the underside of the UTH, with the UTH flat against the glass. i've monitored it and it regulates okay (checked with temp gun), but the Intro+ instructions state to not tape the probe. any suggestions? sorry for the wall of text!
