Can BPs tell if a rodent is old?
I'm curious if Ball pythons can tell if a frozen rodent has gotten stale in the freezer. My male has become picky again. Where he will track the mouse and act interested but won't commit to a strike. I'm wondering if he can tell if they are old. I'm about to finish off a bag of jumbo mice that I've had for about 5 or 6 months. So in curious if he can tell if they are old and just don't taste good to him anymore. The last couple months he will eat a couple times then won't eat for a month. He's at a good size and weight at 850g and about 40-42" long, but it's annoying wasting so many rodents that are almost too small for him anyway. The mice have been ranging from 35-50g and average about 40g
I'm going to go to the pet store and get him a fresh one to see if that's the issue.

I think that sometimes they can tell that something is different and that is enough to give them pause. Then on a larger scale, hence the difficulty in switching from live or from mice to rats.

Is that a hide up top?! That is sweet and mind blowing. (Sorry off topic) is there a heat source in there or anything or is it just a random hide?..

Yes it's an upside down Reptile Basics mounted on the cool side with wall mirror clips. The ones up front are probably not necessary, but my snakes are big and heavy. I will try without the front clips after the next cleaning, then it will slide in and out easily like this one my Boa is using.

That's pretty sweet. I may have to try something like that later.

It's must just be how ours are. That's the size he was when he got to be so picky. Like yours he would eat anything that was warm and moved infront of him. Tomorrow in going to pick him up a fresh mouse and see if he will take it, that is if the stores local have any in the right size range for him.
I'm liking that suspended hide myself. If mine weren't all in tubs I would have to try it too.
