Would I need a thermometer with a thermostat?

Would I need a thermometer with this thermostat? I know it is good practice to probably check the heat every day with a separate device just in case, but if I got an advanced thermostat such as this would I still need to put a thermometer in the tank?

    Thank you!

Yes you always want a way to check what the inside temperature if the enclosure is as the probe for the thermostat does not belong inside the enclosure.

Thanks for the fast reply! Does that mean a thermostat and a thermometer are working separately or is there some way to plug a thermometer into the thermostat? For instance if I have a pulse thermostat it turns the heat off every time a certain level of heat is reached, but how does it know the heat is reached without a thermometer? Or does it just simply sustain the level of heat it thinks is correct through the socket the heat mat is plugged into?
Sorry lol, I love snakes but I am technologically challenged in understanding exactly how it is that thermostats work...

A thermostat has its own probe for itself.
A thermometer is for you to double check the temperature of the surface your animal can touch.

It is a funny one for us technophobes :)

You take the 'crucual' temps inside the viv ( in the warm hide and/or basking spot ) using a reliable digital thermometer with a wired probe .. or better still a digital temp gun ( 14 dollars eBay) .

Then YOU adjust the themostst dial accordingly ...
    Hope that helps :)
