Re: Odd BP behavior in shed
I'm not sure how long you've had Lucy, but when I first got my ball python, he would stretch up as though trying to escape. I later shrugged this off as him exploring his new surroundings because this behavior stopped within a week. Although I've seen elsewhere that if this behavior continues, your snake may be stressed. As for the sitting on the hot spot, to me it just sounds like (if you have a heat lamp or ceramic heater,) your lamp needs to be moved closer. Be careful about that though (I'm sure you will be, it sounds like you really care about your snake!! <3)
ps: this is like, my second day on this site and this is my first post, I'm still pretty new to snake keeping so you may want to get a more experienced person's advice from here before taking mine to heart heh,,

Lately, he doesn't go under any of his hides, all he does is lay on top of his hide on the hot side, he stays there for long periods of time. From time to time he'll move around his enclosure and stretch upward as if he's trying to get out. If someone could help me out I'd really appreciate it. I just want him to be happy and healthy :confusd:
You just explained the behavoir of my Male. He does the exploring from 7:45pm till around 12:30-1:00am like clock work... Also inbeteen the cloudy eyes and shedding period (around 10-14 days ect). He also stretches out like he is on the beach instead of being in his hide... Why?? IdK hahahaha
Re: Odd BP behavior in shed
I've only had my bp for a couple months now and kept reading how they explore (hunt) at night but never got to witness this activity as I work midnights and do a ton of overtime on my nights off. I'd leave for work and she'd be in one of her hides and when I returned in the morning she might still be there or in the other one.
Well, she must be getting more comfortable because in the last few days I've been able to see her stretched out and exploring a couple nights before leaving for work.
Hopefully it's a sign that she's comfortable and my husbandry is on point (at least for her first full shed with me it was, yeah!).
I'll say the same for you as I hope your noodle is just stretching and exploring.
