    New pickup!/questions
So I got my first Kenyan sand boa! She's quite beautiful, although I picked her up at petland. She was caged with a male. I'm a little worried about IBD, I'll be taking the proper quarantine steps. But I am still thinking about the possibility of IBD. The store associate said they have had the snakes for a little over a month! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4eac8c25b2.jpg

    Congrats on your Kenyan! :)

Without a blood test from U of FL, there is just no way to tell unless obvious symptoms manifest themselves. Most IBD Boas are asymptomatic, meaning that they are carriers of IBD with no symptoms. Also, it's like the IBD is dormant until it just wants to wake up and attack your snake.

Unless you see symptoms now, don't worry and play the what if game, it will drive you nuts.

Could I go to my vet and get her a blood test done? I have quarantined her at my boyfriends place. But I did have her in my apartment with the others for a few hours. She was in the kitchen and the others are in my room/ living room. I'm paranoid that I spread something by doing that. Although I sanitized my hands and washed them.

It won't be cheap because your vet has to send the blood sample to U of Fl. But the expense may worth it to you for peace of mind.

To add, if Warren Booth does not see this and respond, then I suggest you PM him. He knows much more about this than me. I'm sure that he can give better information to help you.
