    Ceramic Hide Advice
a friend of mine give me his hide he used for turtles... I have scrubbed it thoroughly with dawn dish soap, let it soak in very hot water and repeated the process.... Is there anything else I should do to it prior to my BP using it.... Thanks in advance for any all recommendations.... the hide is ceramic... no it is not a heat rock or anything like it.....

You should be ok as long as it's clean. You could prob even put it through the dishwasher.

I would use a weak bleach solution if you are going to soak. I soak all my hides and water bowls and things like that in super hot water with a big splash of bleach. I let it soak for an hour or so then rinse really well with more super hot water. I basically do it just I like do bottles for homebrew. The biggest thing I'd be looking for would be dried algae since it was used with turtles and prob spent a lot of time in or around water.

I made that mistake once..if it isnt Dishwasher safe its a total loss.. The steam dry process strips somethings to nothing...
