What RPH is more efficent?

So, after doing days and days of research and ordering new cages from AP, I need to figure out what RHP to go with.. I called and spoke to bob from pro-products and got some info, but as stated many times, he tends to talk down about ALL other companies. I've come to decide between Pro-Products and Reptile basics. I will be installing them in AP T8's & T10's.. I'm new to this form and want to thank everyone for all the answers I've found so far and help there is here. all help will be very much appreciated.

I have 2 t-8's (my 3rd will be here some time soon) I use 80 watt reptile basics heat panels and have not had any problems I can not say to much about the pro products heat panels being iv never used them But Iv seen ppl on here say they have used them and they love them... With all that being said "I think" iv seen more ppl post negative comments about the reptile basics heat panels due to warping, heating to much, but that could also be because 1. No t- stat or quality of t- stat. 2. T- stat probe placement some ppl put the probe laying on substrate under the panel which the snake can move pee on or poop on and change the temps which makes the panel heat up more making it too hot what I do is I drill I bigger hole in the vents on the COOL side and dangle the probe about 3-4 inches from the ground that way if the snake does move it it will just bounce back and you obviously want to set the temps to whatever you want the cool side to be which in my case is 80 and that makes the hotspot perfect at 90-92 I also use the ve-200 t- stat but some ppl once again swear by the herpstat and I can't say anything about those because I have never used them... Anyways enough of my rambling just wanted to put my 2 cents in their good luck on finding the one to want oh and another thing if you do get the reptile basic panel make sure their is at least a 6 inch gap between the panel and anything in the cage because that will cause is to warp as well

I got my Pro Panel P12 (88 watt) Friday. Bob may have some characteristics that I dont care for personally but the bottom line is he manufactures the top of the line panel. He stands behind them & hasnt had the ups and downs other companies RHP's have had. The guy knows his stuff.
I plugged my panel into the Heptstat & the ambiant temp has been 81.3 to 82.5 24/7 since Friday at 5pm. Its 60 in my house at night and 72 during the daytime & it hasnt bated a eyelash. I cant say anything except I'll be buying another one when I Order a T10 to go with my T8.

I have two pro heat RHPs in my T8s and I like them a lot. I've heard the reptile basics ones are just as good but the pro heat is about 3/4" thinner than the reptile basics panels. That makes a decent bit of difference in a cage that only has an inside height of 10 3/4" to begin with. Regardless of which panels you end up choosing I'd also have the panels sent to Animal Plastics and they'll install them and cut a channel for the power cord for no charge. Well worth it in my opinion. Just call AP and tell Ali that you're having RHP sent there for your order and she'll get you all squared away.

I went through this dilemma a long time ago and for what it is worth, all my snake enclosures have pro products RHPs, so why did I pick them?

(1) The pro products are a bit thinner, which is more helpful than you might imagine.

(2) Pro Products panels are UL certified, a certification I have come to value more an more over the years.

(3) They are primarily aluminum construction over PVC.

(4) Their warranty is really fantastic

While I admit Bob's personality can be a bit....over the top, as a previous posted noted, regardless of his personality, I feel he makes the best RHPs available.

I use Flexwatt in all my AP T10s. I do have a Pro Products RHP in my Constrictors NW cage which was my first set up. I personally prefer a nice belly heat spot that stays constant temp but if I was going to go with an RHP again, I would most likely go with Pro Products again.

And of course Bob is going to down talk the competition lol. Its about the sale and business. It's just like a car salesman. You listen to the factual numbers and statements and just glaze your eyes over for the fluff and sales pitch lol.

And that's why your retic is always pushing!! She is boycotting that RHP. She wants a nice 90F spot to curl up on and power digest the food!! Heck I think Caesar is going to bumped up to medium rats soon. I feed him 2 chicks or 2 quails or 2 small rats and the lump is gone in 2 days at the most and he is out looking for more dinner :O Ok sorry to hijack the thread, just had to make fun of Jmcrook a minute ;)

Hah she's got a perfect 90* hot spot and uses it for like an hour after eating then sits at the back of the cage to digest. As for power digestion, if she cooked those rats down any faster she'd be sh***ing out the head of the rat as she's swallowing the tail lol!

I agree, Bob is quite the salesman and also a long time reptile owner but like the others mentioned, if you can ignore the sales pitch he has some valid points.

I've found he is BIG on UL, ULC, & CE listed products. He has a valid point in that every electric appliance, tool, etc. in your house should have that listing. That being said he also recommends the simple stats found on Amazon that surprisingly default to the "on" position, because they are UL listed and the more expensive Herpstats aren't. Personally, I'll take my chances with the Herpstat because it defaults to the "off" position and there's no risk of a burnt snake or worse yet, fire.
